The Dodgers-Padres should never be a rivalry after only one season and a couple of arguments against the players.

Ever since the Padres have stacked their lineup with pitching and hitting last year during the trade deadline they were finally given the chance to have a postseason hope and be a contender with the Dodgers.

Since then analyst, announcers, and fans have taken that a new rivalry has sparked with the drama between the two teams during the last games of the season and their division series match against each other.

The Padres are a superior team (not taking anything away from them) but the Dodgers were still beating them and had swept them in the postseason matchup.

It is nothing like the rivalry they have against the Giants, or like the Yankees-Red Sox. But fans and journalist are trying to make it one.

A rivalry has to happen on its own and should not be forced, a back and forth against a team. A team battling for the lead, the Padres have yet to even put a dent when facing the Dodgers.

Fans of the Padres are even taking to social media to say how their new team is going to take over the national league west division and push the Dodgers down to second place.

Which has caused this new back and forth battle between both fans arguing who is going to take the division.

In the beginning before the new season the Padres didn’t want to sell tickets to Dodger fans as they wanted to have their own fans show up instead of seeing blue shirts in the seats.

As the Petco Park (Padres stadium) was called the Dodger stadium of the south as Dodger fans would fill up stadium rather then Padres fans.

In retrospect the Dodger team is set to always top the Padres, and even though the Padres bought good players to be a contender against the top team the Dodgers are just too good to be beaten.

Padres fans can say all they want on this being a rivalry but in the end it’s not really since they have lost a majority of the 18 games last year, and have lost the series so far in the first 3 games in the new season.

It’s going to be awhile for the Padres to catch up to the Dodgers, but as of now they will always be behind them in the standings.
