There are many baseball athletes that play the game of baseball, even when they are older because of love for the game.

That is why in certain cities there are adult baseball leagues or “Sunday leagues”, where men can play the game they loved as a kid.

Two people before the pandemic have played for only a year but have considered it to be the most fun they had.

Andrew Arriola, 19, is a catcher/utility player for the Los Tigres baseball team in the South Gate adult league.

“ I decided to play Sunday league as a way to stay fit and active while also playing the sport that I loved. It also gives me that end of the week activity to look forward too that could make a bad week into a great one.”

Andrew was a two-year starter at the Varsity level in high school, and wanted to play more after his high school career.

Even though it doesn’t seem it could still be competitive there are still people that want to beat the other team but is not as competitive like high school or college sports.

“Sunday baseball is very laid back compared to a regular competitive team unless you play on a really good team. Playoffs in the league you see people get really competitive in.”

The second person that plays is Sergio Avina, 16, is a outfielder for the Tigers baseball team in the Santa Fe Springs league.

“ I play in the Sunday league because you get extra experience out of it practice wise.”

Sergio is still in high school but is allowed to play in Sunday league because he had a parent signs off for them.

Even though it is not his high school competitive team he still loves the competition.

“Sunday league is laid back for some people but there is still plenty of competition even during playoffs where it gets real serious.”

Baseball is a fun game, but the reason that some people play in adult baseball is the chance to play with there friends or family.

Many of the teams in the different cities have family members some even make up the whole team which could be neat to see.

Andrew said, “I would definitely suggest those who miss baseball to try out Sunday league. If they want something less serious and just want a group of friends to go out and play every week Sunday leagues your best bet.”

Sergio also says, “It is the perfect way to satisfy that urge of playing again.”
